Too many people spend money they don't have on things they don't need to impress people they don't even like.

You should just buy one of these and call it a day.
Because these days, bigger is better.

Good luck finding one that isn't ridiculously expensive!

I'm not even going to chime in on that.
However I have turned so many people over to Windows Phone it's bordering on not being funny any more. At least 28% of that "4% market share" is my fault

Nokia Lumia, either the 925 (which I own and love), 1520 if you're of the means, 1020 if you take a crap-ton of photos, or wait until summer for the newer better models to come out.
Why: It works. It's the most modern smartphone OS designed for how people actually use smartphones (social networking a majority, texting and email after, and some phone calls) but with legendary Nokia reliability, quality, durability, reception (important on a phone ), and ease-of-use. The cameras are the best you can get on a smartphone. There's zero problems syncing to one's computer - and it can sync over WiFi - and you don't have to use special software every time it receives an update, as it does it "over the air". The Lumias look and feel great, and, at least with my 925, isn't too light or too heavy, feels well-constructed, and fits in every pocket I've tried it in with ease.
Just don't get an iphone, as they're not much improved from the original 2007 models. I say this after trying to use a friend's 5S for a few days while he was doing a weekend "off the grid".

As a proud 920 owner (and looking forward to when I can toss 8.1 on it) I agree wholeheartedly. It isn't for everyone though. The appaholics would hate WP's dismal offerings. The customaficionados would cringe over the color choices and background in either black or white. The people who just want a phone that gets them what they need (social updates, quick glances for information, ease of use and simple interfaces), Windows Phone is the way to go.

Quite so.
I had (and still have) an android phone, an HTC Sensation 4G, and once in a while I'll play with it, and remember why I switched back to my same-era Symbian phone (Nokia C7 Astound, then a Nokia 701). It always felt/feels awkward and overly complex, like it was designed by a committee rather than a few individuals with a shared vision, it almost demands modification to make it feel better - hence why "customaficionados" seem to love it so much, while being blind to the fact that if something just works, it doesn't need tweaking, and there's a pleasant feeling with that - and overall it's just frustrating.

you just nailed why I'm an Android guy.
I've considered the WP but they fall way short on apps.

It really is WP's biggest downfall vis-à-vis gaining market share. There is mullings aboult opening their environment to Android apps - if that happens, their offerings will skyrocket and more may be willing to make the change.

If that would happen I'd buy a WP.

I solved the whole app issues by not ditching my iPad. Most of the apps like WhatsApp (oh so glorious group chats) and others are on WP8, everything else I don't use enough anyways to get upset about not having it.
Apps are always a sticking point till you realize how little you actually use them. I say this as a app whore with around 400 apps on my iPad...30 of which are ever really used.

Nope, none. Nokia Windows Phone 8 is almost perfect for me, and I cannot wait for the 8.1 update in April.

Apart from Autovox, I wouldn't say that there is much fanboying here. That was the premise, unlike the fanbait that was the "chart" crossposted to every Gawker blog ever this morning.
